
What Happened?
It has been a busy few weeks for Nurtured homes as one of our sites recently experienced a flood! Unfortunately, there were some water issues experienced that resulted in many apartments and communal areas flooded. This article details how Nurtured Homes’ hard-work and twenty four hour dedication meant the problem was handled professionally, calmly and effectively.
The frontline of the flood- Our Immediate response
As we are the emergency aftercare contact for the building, we were the first to be alerted to the situation when the water was discovered. Below are some photos of the problem we were faced with.




We arranged for a plumber, our maintenance contractor and a flood team to arrive on site promptly to assess and manage the incident. Our maintenance contractor was on site until midnight liaising with the flood team, and helping to clear the water from homes and communal areas. The director of Nurtured Homes was awake throughout the night liaising with teams on site and sending communications to owners and residents to ensure everyone was safe and supported throughout the incident.

Thanks to our fool-proof site and key-set up, we were able to access all areas to remove water and this enabled us to limit the damage caused, saving labour and money for the developer.
A Nurtured Homes team member then attended a full day on site the next day to liaise with trades teams and check in with tenants. Residents were offered support, advice and bottled water was available in reception until the problem had been solved and running water had been restored to all apartments.

So, what next? When a crisis like this hits, having our own trusted trade teams means we are able to act quickly with repair works. A detailed assessment of the damage to communal areas and apartments was made once the water was cleared and a snag report was produced swiftly. Our trades are working hard to restore the site before a further assessment of damage is made after the drying out period. Educated recommendations were made to ensure the damages are correctly rectified, and a clear workflow was produced so everyone understood the job at hand.
